Well…some of you may have missed the announcement on Facebook, we found out last week we are expecting our 3rd BOY into our family!!  We were kinda pulling for a girl, but…we are thrilled to expand our little boys club at the Propes home.  So, with this also comes some design projects and rearranging to take place.  We live in a 4 bedroom home with the 4th bedroom being utilized as our playroom which means that two of  the kiddos will have to bunk up.  The obvious choice was to pair up the two older lil’ dudes and give the baby his own space…and so the transformation begins.

My designs always start with some sort of inspiration, in this case I was drawn to some adorable Ralph Lauren polka dot sheets at Homegoods.  They are white with a blueberry colored dot, that I paired with some granny smith apple green pillow shams.

The sheets are queen sized and are too big for a twin bed, so I will take on a little DIY project, cut them down and transform them into duvet covers.  Ok, so now I have the colors, now what????  Well I stumbled across an adorable art print from Pottery Barn Kids that had a vintage surf feel.

Seeing that we just returned from the beach, it seemed quite appropriate.  Brandt, our 3 year old, LOVED the beach and seeing surf boards…so that is where the theme started to evolve.  I also thought this would be a great theme to grow with them for quite some time.  Well…here it is…the beginning process of design.  We’ll see where it goes from here??

1. Custom wall paint detail 2. Surf Wall Art – Pottery Barn Kids 3. Oilo Pendant Light – Layla Grace 4. California Wall Plaque – Pottery Barn Teen 5. Leaf Bed Canopy – Ikea 6. Wall Letters – Etsy 7. Malm Bed – Ikea 8. Striped Rugby Rug – Pottery Barn Kids 9. Bedding – Homegoods 10. Play table & stool – Ikea

More “NEW” beginnings coming SOON!!  We have been working hard on our **NEW** blog design for a while now and we are so excited to share it with you!!  Stay tuned…we should be rolling it out within the week if all goes as planned (;

This was quite possibly the most neglected room in my house…I swear!  Six years of hmmm…let’s call it procrastination?  The design for our master bedroom was a vision for a VERY long time, too long!  I wanted a room that was a reflection of me & my personality…and for my husband?  He loves it!…or so he says.  That may be his way of stopping the design A.D.D madness.  He just lets me do my thang.  Here are a few items that were on my wish list; Anthropologie-ish glam, damask, a little shabby with a lot of chic, pink, a cute chair, a fun patterned rug, bright white bedding, pops of color, etc…the list goes on and on.  The one thing that is totally missing would be a fabulous chandelier…to bad we live in Phoenix and a ceiling fan trumps my chandelier…wah-wah!  We also had to incorporate my work space into our bedroom.  It is not the ideal choice of location, but we have run out of space and have relinquished said square footage to  footie-wearing-pajama-people that reside here with us.

So after a little rearranging, a few pillows, and some DIY art, we finally have a bedroom I love and I am not embarrassed to share (:

My desk chair…I love it!

Fun pillows add color & texture

DIY Art

Fresh Chick Design Studio Headquarters…LOL!

My work space integrated into our bedroom

I have always LOVED my armoire, it just never felt like part of the room…now it belongs!

This transition has been taking place for some time now and I finally need to buckle down and get it done!!  My lil’ dude turned two in May…his name is Brandt and he is quite the cool kiddo!  We put him in a twin bed a few months before his 2nd birthday.  We hesitated to get too far along with his toddler room since we weren’t sure how the whole transition would go.  Well, to our surprise it was super easy.  So easy that I have TOTALLY slacked in moving his art above his bed and doing some minimal rearranging.  Here is a look back at his nursery before he arrived into our lives…awe…

Now that the crib is gone and the bedding was a wee bit small, I needed to get new bedding.  I opted for white sheets and this reversible quilt form target.

Since Brandt is OBSESSED with the alphabet, I made a poster print and framed it for his room.  The letters that are in RED are his initials (;

{available in my Etsy Shop!}

I haven’t decided yet if the wall detail will stay…but in the meantime, I have added some orange into the mix, just for a little fun!  The blue circle pillow is from his crib set and the orange dot pillow covers I found at Target for under $5.00!!  Woohoo!

Once the project is finished,  I will posted the completed room…I hope it will be soon!!  Have a great week!!

When it comes to throw pillows I think I have an illness…I love these things!!!  You can never have enough!!  Well maybe you can…possibly why I have such successful garage sales (:  I have a neutral sofa in my great room and changing out my pillows is a great way to add a dash of color, change up the mood, or satisfy my obsession with these puffy little treats!  In this case I do have a reason for needing…wanting some “additional” throw pillows.  I was looking at my home tour and after viewing…I decided to incorporate a melon-orangy-ish color into the plan.  Just for some fun, impact, and balance.

Anyways…My friend Jo has an Etsy shop Diodio Domestic Couture and here are the pillows I am purchasing…so cute!

Jo uses high end fabrics such as Osborne & Little….one of my favorites!

Here are a few more I am eyeing up too.  All are available on Etsy!

This one is by Little Bungalow Studio…compete with fab fresh fabric by Amy Butler…oooo…ahhhh!!

Lastly this one is by Meringue Designs…also Amy Butler fabric….LOVE!!

Ok, so as you all may know or not know that I am an interior designer.  To design or decorate a client’s home  I truly am in my element…the creativity starts immediately and I can barely keep my sketching hand up to pace with the images firing off  in my head.  It can be quite exhilarating and overwhelming all at the same time.  To design my own home?  Ha!  Anyone who is or knows a designer, can appreciate the exact challenge I am speaking about.  I see so much, I want so much…hence the reason I have painted the interior of my home a bizillion times.  I am too close to it and fear committing because I know another fabulous trend, color, or piece of furniture will waltz into my line of sight at any given moment.  My house is a work in progress,  a laundry list of “to-do’s”.   The question is which project is next?  Great question!…that is why I am going to share my process with the world…or the few people who give a crap about what I am up to (:   So here is my home so far…I will post some more pics once I make my bed and do my dishes.

My Greatroom

Art made from some random frames and decorative paper

Custom drapery panels made from store bought panels and some inexpensive fabric

I used leftover fabric to sew some accent pillows

My first attempt at drywall and tiling…success!!  I love the way my fireplace surround turned out and I did it myself!

Close up of the mosaic tile

Modular furniture from Ikea that was a perfect fit.  Made to look as if it was a custom built-in!

My dining nook – I had a piece of carpet made into a bound rug.  New chandelier coming soon…I hope

This is the color palette for my main living space and touches of it are seen throughout my home…so soothing!

I love these finial-like accessories…it adds the perfect amount of glam

Polished nickel accents are found throughout my home

I Had some fabric samples that I stretched around a canvas and finished off with some coordinating ribbon

I decided on a painted wall with a harlequin pattern to create interest.  It was pretty time consuming but well worth the efforts

I just love these little sparkly lamps…above are two prints I purchased, repurposed the frames they came in, and had them custom matted in an oatmeal linen and then framed

I love adding a touch of animal print…it adds great visual interest and a touch of whimsy

I Needed some art for above the master bed so I used a fabric sample stretched over a canvas for the center.  The two end pieces are painted canvases with silver leaf letters adhered to them in our initials

This is by FAR my favorite piece EVER!!!  I got this at a clothing store that was going out of business for $300!!!  I think it is really old, definitely worth way more than I paid.  I use it to house our bedroom television and our laundry hampers

My sad master bath…oh how I dream to do big things to this space SOON!…on a budget.  I am picturing double free-standing vanities with vessel sinks, tile detail, wall sconces, chocolate paint, etc…

My laundry room…this project was completed when I was 8 months preggers…tons of storage and complete with a cute little homemade curtain to hide a waste basket…sewn by yours truly in fabulous Amy Butler fabrics.

All neat and tidy…even equipped with a wall mounted drying rack!

A place for everything and everything in its place…unlike most I love to do laundry…I know…I ‘m weird!

and when the laundry is complete, here is my lounger…enough said!

Our party-o…

Oh, how I love my  Smith & Hawken for Target patio furniture…

So here is where it starts…this shower curtain soon to be window treatment is the first look into my master bath transformation…I saw this fabric and knew it was love at first sight.  I am a sucker for aqua blue and when you pair it with my favorite color {PINK} I am sold.  I love the large scale floral…It’s modern, feminine, and chic!   My goal is to document my design process of my upcoming projects on a BUDGET.  I can’t promise when I will start or how long it will take but writing about it holds me accountable!!  Stay tuned…I hope to have some fun details to report soon…smooches!

Who doesn’t love a sweet cupcake!  It can even make a cute theme for your little sweet’s bedroom.  This adorable bedding and lamp are  from Target and the print was designed by this Fresh Chick to coordinate.  When choosing bedding  with this much pattern it is a good idea to keep all of the other elements in the room pretty simple.  If I was designing this room,  this would  be enough of the “theme”  to use…I might even throw a solid coverlet onto to the bed for a little balance.
